Trashcan Tv

A cracked screen

60 inches

I measured

Because every inch counts

Five buttons

Volume up, volume down

Input

You know the ones

Dusty chords

Bunched in the back

Probably don’t even go

With the tv

It sits,

It’s flaws lain bare

At the end of that driveway

On top of that pile

Of suffocated endings

A sign -

Taped and handwritten -

That just reads

‘Broken’

So no one mistakes it

For something worth their time.

If I were a trashcan tv

What would my sign say?

I guess what I am really asking is

With my flaws lain bare

At the end of that driveway

On top of that pile

Of suffocated endings

Will someone still

Wander by,

Stop their stride,

Take a look,

Think it over,

And decide to

Scoop me up in their arms

And take me home

Anyways?
